On 26th April 2025, our WordPress community gathered at Walstar Technologies for an exciting offline meetup filled with shared experiences, community stories, and future planning. With around 20 passionate members present, this meetup was a perfect blend of learning, networking, and celebration of our shared love for WordPress.
Key Highlights from the Meetup:
WordCamp Asia 2025 Reflections
Ketan Nirukhe, Abhay Kulkarni, and Makrand Mane kicked off the session by sharing their memorable experiences from WordCamp Asia 2025. From insightful sessions to networking with WordPress enthusiasts across the globe, each speaker gave us a glimpse of the energy and inspiration they brought back.
One standout moment came from Makarand sir, who shared a special memory: meeting Matt Mullenweg, the co-founder of WordPress. Not only did he meet Matt, but he also gifted him WordCamp Kolhapur swags, including Kolhapuri chappal—a proud cultural representation from our community!
Experience from the WordPress 6.8 Release Meetup Series
The discussion shifted to our recent local meetup series for the WordPress 6.8 release. Members shared how these sessions helped them deepen their understanding of the latest version and inspired them to engage more actively in the WordPress ecosystem.
key takeaway was learning about earning badges a motivating recognition system within the WordPress community. Many proudly shared how many badges they had earned so far.
Swag Distribution from Makarand Sir
The meetup had a delightful surprise when Makrand sir distributed swags he had collected from various WordCamps. From stickers to collectible goodies, the smiles said it all. A small gesture, but it brought a big dose of excitement and gratitude among attendees.
Planning the Next Meetup: WordPress Birthday Celebration
As we wrapped up, the discussion turned to our next event—the WordPress Birthday Meetup. Everyone contributed ideas on how we could make it special, fun, and meaningful for the local community.
Stay tuned for updates on this upcoming celebration!
Closing Thoughts:
It was truly energizing to see the enthusiasm and community spirit during this meetup. Every discussion, experience, and shared laugh reminded us of why we’re all part of this amazing open-source journey.
We’re looking forward to the next gathering and encourage anyone interested in WordPress from developers to bloggers to join us!
